Why Most Entrepreneur Coaching Programs Are Total Trash

Hey Reader,

Most business coaching programs set you up to fail. I know because I have invested in a TON of them.

  • I’ve taken the courses
  • I’ve enrolled in the programs
  • I’ve even hired the 1:1 coaches

And while I’ve certainly learned a thing or two from each one, they ALL were extremely disappointing. And not worth the investment.

Doesn’t matter if they were $2250 or $23,000. Every single one has been a big, fat disappointment. And a waste of money.

Not because the people running them are bad or because the strategies don’t work—but because they start in the wrong place.

They focus on growth before they help you build the foundation to sustain it.

It’s like giving you a complex, super fancy roadmap to Nirvana, but without a “You’re Here” to point out your starting point.

It’s a very expensive recipe for failure and frustration.

And that’s why so many entrepreneurs invest thousands of dollars into these programs… and still feel stuck.

The Broken Coaching Model (Why It Doesn’t Work)

Most coaching programs focus almost exclusively on client acquisition.

Their entire playbook looks like this:

  1. Pick a niche. (Usually with some weak advice like “follow your passion” or “find a high-ticket audience.”)
  2. Put together an offer. (No deep market research, no thought on long-term scalability—just slap together a package and a price.)
  3. Go get clients. (Here’s the LinkedIn strategy, the cold DM script, the webinar funnel, etc.)

The problem?

They skip over the most important part—figuring out what you should be selling in the first place.

They assume:

  • You already know your ideal client inside and out.
  • You know what problems they care about solving enough to pay premium prices.
  • You know how to design and deliver an offer that gets them real, tangible results.

And they don’t even seem to give a shit about:

  • Figuring out what kind of work lights you up instead of drains you.
  • Understanding why you are uniquely positioned to serve this ideal customer.
  • Determining what type of business will support your ideal lifestyle for the long haul.

The assumptions are dangerous. And the oversight is just a recipe for burnout.

It’s why so many people get clients, struggle to serve them, and then wonder why their business isn’t growing.

And it's why, in nearly every sales call I have, I hear heartbreaking stories of entrepreneurs struggling financially because they trusted coaches and gurus, gave them thousands, and wound up more confused, frustrated, and panicked about the future of their business.

What Happens When You Skip the Foundation

This is why so many solopreneurs and early-stage entrepreneurs get caught in these cycles:

The Feast-or-Famine Cycle:

You get a few clients, but because your offer isn’t well-structured (or validated), delivering it is chaotic, overwhelming, and unsustainable. So, you stop marketing to catch up on client work. Then, when the projects end, you’re back to square one—scrambling for leads again.

The Overworked, Underpaid Trap:

Your offer isn’t dialed in, so you customize every project, stretch your time thin, and undercharge because you aren’t confident in your pricing. Instead of running a business, you’ve created an exhausting, low-paid job for yourself.

The “Why Is This So Hard?” Realization:

Even if you do sell, you struggle to get consistent results for clients because you never built a structured, repeatable delivery system. You’re constantly reinventing the wheel, which makes everything take longer and feel harder than it should.

None of these problems get solved by just bringing in more leads.

But that’s what every program is selling you on.

The Right Way to Build a Business That Actually Scales

Before you ever start focusing on growth, you need to build the foundation that makes growth sustainable.

Here’s what that looks like:

Step 1: Get crystal clear on your One Thing

Your ideal customer and the kind of transformational outcome you can deliver for them.

Not just surface-level demographics, but:

  • What urgent, high-stakes problems they need solved
  • Why now is the time they’re willing to pay for help
  • What they’ve already tried that hasn’t worked
  • Why you are unique positioned to solve it

Step 2: Design an offer that is repeatable and scalable.

  • One that you can sell over and over again without customization
  • One that delivers massive results in an efficient way
  • One that makes it easy for happy clients to continue working with you

Step 3: Build a simple, effective delivery system.

So when clients sign on, they’re onboarded seamlessly, they get a top-tier experience, and they see results quickly.

Only then should you start ramping up client acquisition.

Because when you do, you won’t just be booking more calls and closing more clients.

You’ll be running a business that actually grows.

If you’ve been stuck in a loop of buying courses, joining programs, and “learning how to sell” without ever feeling like your business is working for you…

It’s not because you aren’t good enough.

It’s because no one ever taught you how to build the foundation before you start scaling.

But it's not too late.

And when you slow down to build that foundation, you'll be blown away by how fast you the growth can come.

In love and growth,
Kasey

My attempt at viral post bombed

Hey Reader, Last Friday, I posted what was supposed to be a high-engagement, lead-generating, viral post. I followed the formulas. I structured it the way the “growth hacks” say to. I even included a CTA designed to drive engagement. And… it completely flopped. At first, I was frustrated. But then, I realized something: I didn’t trust myself. I ignored my gut and followed a strategy that worked for someone else without reflecting on whether it felt right for me. Specifically, I followed the...

The ADHD Entrepreneur's secret weapon and kryptonite

Hey Reader, For most of my life, I thought something was wrong with me. I’d start one project, get excited, and dive in headfirst. And usually, I'd kind of kill it—moving faster, innovating more, and achieving bigger wins than most of my peers. But then, almost without warning, I’d get bored and drop it. I had a million ideas but struggled to finish anything. I bounced between strategies, jobs, and businesses. Never quite sure if I was on the right path. For years, I thought this was just...

How to sell without selling — offer validation with zero pitching

Hey Reader, If you’re on this list, I’ll bet you find sales uncomfortable, pushy, or overwhelming. The mere thought of selling gives you hives because you associate it with icky sales tactics to convince someone to buy. And so you think, “I’ll just create LinkedIn content, and the leads will come to me.” (But then they don’t). Or that you decide to just take what you can get, accepting every referral no matter how little they pay or how misaligned the work. And so the feast-or-famine roller...
