Privilege you earn or a feature you need?

Hey Reader,

One of the most common objections I get from Solo CEO students (and from entrepreneurs thinking about joining the program) is that they don’t think they can afford to niche down.

That it is a privilege you can only earn through success.

It might sound counter-intuitive, but niching down is actually how you find that success.

You niche down to blow up. It’s just smart business.

But I’ve learned that your resistance to niching down rarely comes from some business strategy you’ve learned.

It comes from a fear deep inside you.

Why We Want to Be for Everyone

Especially if you’re coming from months or years of feeling overwhelmed, underpaid, and unappreciated, the mere idea of niching down is terrifying.

  • Scarcity thinking: “If I turn someone away, I might not get another opportunity.”
  • The validation trap: “Helping everyone will make me more valuable. ”
  • Fear of failure: “The broader my reach, the safer my business is.”

Those beliefs come from the scarcity mindset that life has taught you. And it undermines your ability to be in the driver’s seat of your own business.

When you get clear on whom you’re meant to serve, how you’re meant to help them, and why you can do it better than anyone else, everything gets easier.

Niching down makes it easier to attract ideal fit clients, deliver bigger results, get paid higher rates, and have more fun doing it.

Seriously.

The Freedom of Saying No

You’re not here to be everyone’s favorite. Because guess what? You can’t…even if you tried.

I’ve had to learn this about a million times over because I still struggle to be a people pleaser and want to help every person I can.

But every single time I turn down a prospect, a project, or an opportunity that is a mediocre fit, within days, a DREAM fit will come knocking.

And when you get clearer on what makes someone a dream fit, it becomes infinitely easier to attract them, close them, and serve them.

Think about it. Isn’t it so much harder to work with meh-fit clients?

Your work is more grueling. Your results are less impressive. And your rates are lower.

But when you find that Solo CEO sweet spot? Pure magic.

  • Freedom from overwhelm.
  • Freedom from working with misaligned clients.
  • Freedom to do your best work with the people who truly value it.

It really is that simple. Not easy, but simple.

Shifting the Mindset from Scarcity to Abundance

I also hear clients say that they like working with “everyone” because it keeps them interested. I used to think the same.

But I’ve learned that by finding clarity in my One Thing—whom I serve, how I help them, and why it matters so much to them—I am able to go deep instead of wide.

It makes my business feel more purpose-driven, my results significantly more impressive, and my work more rewarding (financially and emotionally).

It doesn’t mean that you’ll work with fewer people but you will create a bigger impact for the people who need you most.

Niching Down Thought Exercise:

Take some time to explore the potential here for yourself and your business.

  • Who are the dream clients who light you up?
  • What work do you do that has the greatest impact to time ratio?
  • How would your business (and life) change if you only did that work for those people?

Spend some getting curious about how you could reshape your business to focus on the people you feel honored to serve and producing the results you are uniquely positioned to deliver.

The Surprising Results of Focus

When you find this clarity and can focus on doing the work that you are uniquely positioned to do, the results will astound you.

  • Easier marketing (because you’re speaking directly to your ideal clients).
  • Higher revenue (because clarity allows you to charge more).
  • More joy (because you’re working with aligned clients).

I know it’s scary. I really do.

When you’ve been trained to doubt yourself, making a commitment like this can feel like you’re playing a dangerous game. But I promise you, clarity and simplicity makes everything else just a little easier.

And more fun.

Now, that you see the benefit of niching down, I’m sure you’re wondering, “Okay, so how do I do it?”

In Sunday’s newsletter, I’ll break down the Solo CEO’s Unique Differentiator framework, step-by-step. It will teach you how to define your side of the Solo CEO sweet spot.

I’ve recently redesigned this process, so it’s even better than the one that Peter said was work 5x his investment in The Solo CEO program and the reason why he was able to increase his pricing by 20x within a few weeks.

See you next time.

In love and growth,
Kasey

P.S. If you want to skip ahead and learn it for yourself, I’m reopening the doors to the Solo CEO Jumpstart program, reply here and I’ll tell you more.
