🏔 I have a confession. A kind of big one.

Hey Reader,

I’ve been lying to you.

Not on purpose. After all, I was lying to myself too.

But the results are the same—screwing you over, wasting your time, and keeping you stuck.

I genuinely thought I was helping. That my guidance, my advice, and my approach were different from the bullsh*t that all those LinkedIn gurus sold you.

But recently, I’ve had to accept that while I AM very different than those 20-something creator, audience builder, and ghostwriter LinkedIn experts, I’ve been falling into the same trap they all do.

Focusing too much on surface-level LinkedIn tactics when that’s not what you need. Not really.

Let me slow down and explain.

My business, The Solo CEO, was started by my leading LinkedIn personal branding cohorts.

Throughout that journey, I learned that what made people successful on LinkedIn (able to generate meaningful revenue, opportunity, and impact) had little to do with LinkedIn itself.

The difference maker wasn’t their ability to create scroll-stopping content.

It was the level of clarity they had in their fundamental business strategy.

  • Who was their ideal client
  • Why their work mattered to them
  • What specific outcomes they delivered
  • How an ideal client could quickly get started
  • Where they were different from their competitors

Only when they truly understood the answer to these questions would they see success.

LinkedIn only works if you already have a strong business foundation and are ready for real growth.

And far fewer entrepreneurs have that foundation than think they do.

But the proliferation of LinkedIn personal branding content, courses, and cohorts promising dream business outcomes (including my own) made too many of you skip the fundamentals.

You focused on:

  • How to write hooks
  • Designing pretty carousels
  • Adding selfies to your posts
  • Improving your calls-to-action
  • Whether or not to give video a try

And guess what? None of it worked. At least not consistently.

In The Solo CEO, I knew students needed to start with business strategy, but because people often come to me with the goal of leveraging LinkedIn, I included advice, strategy, and training on how to write lead-generating content.

But I am now admitting to myself (and to you) that it’s a distraction.

The students who experience the fastest, biggest results, spend almost no time on LinkedIn. At least not at first.

Instead:

  • They get clear on their One Thing
  • They design a high-converting intro offer
  • And then they sell it to their existing network

Once they do that, then, and only then, do they have what they need to start selling to strangers and using LinkedIn to do it.

But it’s not the first step.

I’ve known this for a while now, but I have resisted making this clear to you—both in my content and in the structure of The Solo CEO.

Most of you know me through my LinkedIn content and my advice, coaching, and mentorship about creating your own LinkedIn content.

So it’s scary to admit this to all of you.

But here’s what I know.

You will have 100x more success on LinkedIn if you don’t focus on it until you get the foundation of your business figured out first.

I’ll be sharing more about this in the coming days and weeks, but I’m going to make some really big changes to The Solo CEO program.

The biggest? The first level or phase of The Solo CEO won’t even touch LinkedIn content. Because you don’t need it—not yet.

You need to build the foundation of your business before you start using LinkedIn to grow it.

  • A laser sharp Ideal Client Profile
  • A high converting project-based intro offer
  • A system to turn that project into a long term retainer

And I know that if I can help you focus on the fundamentals that really matter, you’ll grow 10x faster and experience 10x bigger results in the long run.

This December, I’ll be rebuilding The Solo CEO from the ground up and giving access to current and new customers in early January.

So, I’ll be running specials for anyone who wants to pre-buy The Solo CEO Level 1: Foundations — Premium Launch Pad at the lowest price it will EVER be.

If you’re remotely interested in joining the program that has helped:

  • Jason land 3 5-figure clients within the first 2 months
  • Peter close a $20k 3 month retainer in the first 6 weeks
  • Stuart go from $500 projects to 2 5 figure retainers in 10 weeks

Reply to this email or officially apply for The Solo CEO and let’s talk.

And don't worry. I won't yank away all my content helping you with LinkedIn because I know a lot of you want it, but I will be creating a new email course and a whole LOT more content that helps you do things in the right (and far more lucrative order).

In love and growth,
Kasey

P.S. I'll still be hosting a masterclass to teach you the fundamentals of my approach on Thursday.

Annual review and goal setting

Hey Reader, If you’re like me, you find the idea of a new year ahead motivating but also intimidating and maybe even a little exhausting. Especially if you’ve got an onslaught of family events and obligations ahead. But a little reflection and planning can change the trajectory of your life and business. I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. I learned this first hand in 2024. Last year, my husband and I visited my family for the holidays. It was kind of awful. We both got sick, couldn’t...

Hey Reader, For a long time, I felt filled with shame that I would set goals and never meet them. I assumed it was a sign that something was wrong with me. That I was lazy That I was a failure That I would always struggle It took me a long time to realize my lack of success had nothing to do with my inherent worth as a person… And everything to do with the fact that I never learned HOW to work toward my goals. At least not in a way that worked for me. I’m one of the many people who didn’t get...

3 pillars of a freedom based business

Hey Reader, If you’re at all like me (and I’m pretty damn sure you are), a huge part of the appeal of entrepreneurship is the promise of freedom. Freedom to spend money on people, experiences and things that interest you. Freedom to work with clients who appreciate you and you feel honored to serve. Freedom to spend your time on work that lights you up. But if you’re anything like I was for the first 6 years of my entrepreneurial journey, freedom was elusive. A far-off idea that you knew was...
